“I no longer try to force my desired reality onto actual reality. I am so much happier when I accept people for who they are and where they are, too.” Words to live by. Thanks Jane and Erin for this delightful interview!
A wonderful interview. I couldn’t agree more on that final observation on writing and connection plus 70s platform sandals! I longed for more access to horses when I was a teen, probably sensing they might assist me this way but lessons were beyond my mother’s budget, alas, so my trust issues remain!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Ron! Yes to writing and connection, and platform sandals! And sorry about the trust issues!! I've had deep connections with cats and dogs all my life...and still have trust issues! Perhaps I also needed a horse?!
It's never too late to spend time with horses! I strated riding again during the pandemic. There are places who specilaize in therapeutic horses and you can volunteer which gives you horse access too. :-)
1970's platforms! Even though I was already a tall-ish 5'8, I loved being 6" tall with my platform sandals with legs for miles....those bellbottom pants reaching from low hip to the ground! My favs were a pair with wooden platforms and brown leather straps.
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!! She is my people!! I found myself nodding along with everything and really relating to her. My soul purpose when I write is to connect too. Also horses and 70s platforms!! And in 8th grade I had an Ask Mesa column in the school paper 😍 Gah. This was so great. I'm so glad you highlighted her today. Thank you for this Jane!! You're my people too!! ❤️❤️❤️
Admittedly I gave the absolute worst advice because I 13 and what did I know in 1992? 🤣 But I think it was that seed that made me ultimately decide to get a psychology degree 17 years later 🤣
I loved this interview and like David Roberts comment I did not know that horses are prey animals either and I will approach them differently now! Thank you Jane as I always look forward to your interviews and am inspired to read more and Connect!
Among others things I learned from this interview was that horses are prey animals. That makes so much sense to me. That's another way of thinking about animals, humans, individuals, and ourselves. Are we more predator or prey?
Haha! I’m 84 now, so tight fitting bellbottoms pants and platforms. Not a good look for me, but I can reminisce.
Yes! ❤️

So true!! I'm really glad you enjoyed it, Monika!
Thank you for reading! ❤️

I love that look!! Erin is also tall! Luckily, that look is back! Such a good one!
I am 5'8" too! And I love being tall lol. I should post pics of all my platforms! 😂

It sounds like you are kindred spirit, indeed!! I'm glad you enjoyed it, Mesa. Yes, we are each other's people! ❤️
Awww, thanks! I LOVE that you had a middle school advice column!!!

Love it!

Aw, thanks, Sue! That means so so so much! ❤️

I didn't know that either, David!! And it does make sense! Yes, that could make for an interesting and revealing inventory!
I love Erin! She's such a genuinely kind person, and that line about searching for connections is so true. So glad to get this glimpse into her.
Aw, thank you so much! ☺️
