Her mother’s daughter and her own beautiful soul. I’m particularly struck by the story of how she found her best friend. Few children would have the resourcefulness and courage to make a direct request for friendship.
I agree - it's so beautiful that that worked out. I do find it a lot harder to talk to people than write so it resonated a lot with me to read that she did this.
Jesse,I so enjoyed your interview with Jane, your positivity and the causes you champion are close to my heart...loved the pictures of you with the late, great Cairo and The Kitty...so sweet! I joined Substack because I love everything your mom,Patti, puts out...her writing has always been magical to me;but started to read your stuff too and have become very fond of your writing as well...Thanks for sharing,I look forward to more.Thank you to Jane also...😻💕
Awww the late great Cairo :))) thank you for remembering and celebrating our girl. Thank you also for your kind words and support, it really means so much
This was heavenly to come across. Absolutely struck by the authenticity and the simplicity, the fundamental sweetness that comes through these beautiful heartfelt conversations.
What an amazing person and your writing brings out the best. Glad to learn about Jesse and subscribe to her. She would fit right into our community of Gifted Professionals and Communicators. Her work with mental health awareness and music is aligned with the many who you'll never see on social media but talking with each other, here in GPC.
Love your posts, Jesse. I do a lot of reading myself. I read Wuthering Heights, War and Peace, Romeo and Juliet, and The Petting Zoo. I am currently reading The Whittier by Danielle Steel right now. I also write short, fiction stories in my spare time.
Loved this. I stopped dead in my tracks at the first question and the Kelly Bishop book. She was my favorite character on Gilmore Girls from her first scene. I have made a note to buy that one:) Happy to become a subscriber here and look forward to reading more.
I love when that sort of thing happens! Happy to have you as a subscriber, Lee! Thank you! And I see you were a music writer for a stretch. Me, too! Though rather than London in the seventies and eighties, it was NYC in the nineties and aughts!

Yes I was a music journalist in the UK from about 1976 till 1987. Those were the days lol.
Happy to be a subscriber:)
You are one of the sweetest, kindest, warmest human beings, jesse. I'll never forget interviewing you for Teen Talking Circles -- all those years ago. You've accomplished so much already in your life -- I can just imagine how much more good you will do in the world. Someday, I hope to meet you in person. https://teentalkingcircles.com/2015/04/12/pathway-to-paris-an-interview-with-jesse-paris-smith-rebecca-foon/
I agree with your assessment of Jesse! Such a kind and loving soul.
