Hello, Beyonders! I’ve been using the quiet of the summer months to take stock of things here at Beyond. I’m struggling with burnout lately (which I’m attempting to write about - look for a new post from me on Sunday), and find myself exploring the direction of this newsletter, how much damn work it takes to run, and ways to make it more sustainable. I truly believe that my entire career has led me here, and I am in deep love with this work. But it’s not easy, and there are times (like now) when I could do with a little extra support.
This brings me to you. I want to know which parts of Beyond you enjoy the most…
And how you find the current length of the interviews (since these are the heart of Beyond and what I most love doing but also take the most time to produce)…
I am also open to hearing any additional thoughts in the comment section. And the poll only allows you to share your top favorite but if you like more than that one column, please do let me know!
Thank you for taking the time to answer these polls! If you have the means, a paid subscription would be 1) a huge vote of confidence in this scrappy little newsletter, and 2) incredibly beneficial to me. And a portion of it will support rescue dogs, too!
With gratitude,
Jane
Your essays are most compelling for me and the interviews are right up there. That said, there is not an offering listed here that isn't great to come upon and sunk into. Focus your energies where it is healthiest for you.
When "burned out" it is indeed hard to write about being burned out. When grieving, it's hard to write about grief except when we name the feelings, describe them and tell how they affect us.
If we can name it, and the more specific and detailed, then we have a much better chance of dealing with those feelings, managing them and not let them manage us. Yes?
