I LOVE this interview and resonated so deeply with me. I just went and bought Hagitude. Thank you for this uplifting, thoughtful exchange and can’t thank you enough for the gift of your sharing amazing writers who possess such kindness with your community. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Felt an immediate connection to this author (mythology, fairy tales, Jung, oh my!) and before finishing reading the interview I signed up for Dr. Blackie's substack. My interest in mythology is weighted heavily toward India's wealth of tales, but Arthurian legends also have fascinated me since I was a child. Hope to read or listen to "If Women Rose Rooted" very soon, and am eager to explore her rich substack archive! I wonder, is she familiar with "Martin Pippin in the Apple Orchard?" A book that enchanted me as a child, which I reread recently thinking it would be "problematic" but still found much to engage and enjoy, fairy-tale elements turned inside out and upside down.
Thank you, Jane, for finding such wonderful interview subjects.
"Always, right up until the end, to be a catalyst for transformation. Always to love and protect the place where my feet are planted, which gives me life. And always to love more than I think I can, and more than is wise." Yes, yes, YES!!!
"All is not lost. Much is recoverable – if only at moments, suddenly.’ thank you both, Sharon Blackie for this quote abd Jane for this memorable interview.
The passage about witches magic being ‘from the earth’ resonated with me. I studied Cabala a long time ago and the Star of David can be a symbol of male and female intertwined with the base of one triangle sitting on the ground which is the female spirit and the base of the other triangle is facing the sky— men’s spirit. Our great women’s wisdom comes from being grounded.
i think i literally squealed when i saw Sharon Blackie was your featured writer this week. i have been following her for several years now and was hoping you would interview her. i suggest her books, Substack, and courses to women and anyone i feel might be open to her wisdom. so looking forward to her Wise Women book being released in Oct. Thank you Jane for following your calling and bringing writers into our inbox, as well as your own wonderful writing.
Oh, Anne, this makes me so happy! Sharon is an absolutely astounding human!! I look forward to her new book, as well.! And thanks for your kind words. ❤️
It's quite incredible to see the medical challenges reflected in Dr. Blackie's dog before it happened to her directly. Dogs, and other close animal familiars, are such powerful forces in our life. Thank you for sharing.
"I love the freedom of clothes that don’t impinge on you too much, that don’t pinch and bite and confine." Feeling this so much in my forties even though I was a tight jeans, corset-wearing younger woman.
Thank you! These words are now inscribed into my journal. "Always to love and protect the place where my feet are planted, which gives me life. And always to love more than I think I can, and more than is wise." XX

Me, too! It's such a relief!
