This entire article is a gift. After a bad fall a month ago, about the only thing I can comfortably do is to read. Poor me.

Thanks so much.

Thanks for this wonderful list. I love the laziness of summer when I can tuck myself away in my garden and just read. Now I have a few more reasons!

Oh, I love it so, too! Our tiny backyard was, for many years, basically dirt, but it’s just been transformed into a magical garden and I’ve been exhilarated by the ways it’s transformed my daily life, but especially my reading!! ♥️

Oh my gosh, I’m so thrilled these recs resonate and amazed and excited that you’re a Slightly Foxed person! I still can’t quite believe they chose MSY for their series, honestly!!

I am! My order was dispatched 12 hours ago! While it will take some time to wing its way across the pond. I think it is amazing they chose MSY for their series. After all, they have excellent taste!

Jane, thank you for your recommendations. I am not sure that I have enough time to read all the books you mentioned, but the "other wonderful things" happened - I was listening to Rosie Goldsmith's interview with lovely Joanna Rakoff (I am curious about her Russian last name) about her new memoir "My Salinger Year," which was published very recently in march of 2024. Thank you very much for this information.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the recommendations. Yes, so many good ones and not enough time!! My Salinger Year was actually published in 2015. What Joanna mentions here is a beautiful collector's edition! I'll have to check out that interview! Thanks, Larisa!

Oh, I understood about collector's edition because it was published only in limited copies and every copy had a number, like Joanna's copy # was 360 or something. It's the honorable edition for a young writer's career. And she looks young and beautiful I missed her memoir to read, that's why it's new to me. Thank you, Jane.

Larisa, oh my gosh, I’m so thrilled you listened to my talk with Rosie, who is an idol of mine!! And about the collector’s edition: There *will* be a second run, which are, I believe, slightly less expensive (and will not, like the first, largely go to subscribers to this series!). I’ll post more info once I have it!! And I’m so thrilled you liked my June reads; so understand that feeling of there being too many books and not enough time♥️

Joanna, you looked lovely, natural and at home in your armchair. I am not listening to a lot of interviews besides some of the literary agents when I wanted to find one for my memoir. I am very glad to your success. Congratulations! Larisa Rimerman
